CoronaVirus Facts And Information For The Franchise Industry

New Post From The Franchise King®

facts information on coronavirus and franchising

The Coronavirus pandemic is growing by the hour. That’s why it’s important for all of us in franchising to get Coronavirus facts and information, as it’s a potentially dangerous virus.

And as long as President Trump stays out of the way and allows the (qualified) medical experts to be in charge of informing us of relevant Coronavirus news, we should be fine.

Franchising Will Take A Hit

Small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) that are the heart and soul of this country are the ones that are going to be the hardest hit. Even when things improve, they’re walking a very thin line here.” More

For example, if you’re a franchisor, and you provide PC’s to your franchisees, research firm Canalys says that the volume of PCs that will ship globally this year could drop by at least a 3.3% and maybe as high as 9%. That’s a lot. And there’s going to be a price increase if that happens. Who’s going to pay for it?

What if you’re a would-be franchise owner, you’re getting close to buying a franchise, and you’re ready to book a trip to visit franchise headquarters for a Discovery Day? Are you going to postpone it if things start to get out of hand?

Question: if you’re a franchisor, are you going to start to cut back on employee travel?

Now, before we panic, let’s make sure we totally understand how the coronovirus spreads.

Coronavirus Facts And Information

From The CDC:

The virus is thought to spread mainly from person-to-person.

Between people who are in close contact with one another (within about 6 feet).
Through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes.
These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby or possibly be inhaled into the lungs.

Additionally, according to the CDC, it may be spread if you touch infested surfaces etc.

It may be possible that a person can get COVID-19 by touching a surface or object that has the virus on it and then touching their own mouth, nose, or possibly their eyes, but this is not thought to be the main way the virus spreads.

One more thing:

People are thought to be most contagious when they are most symptomatic
Some spread might be possible before people show symptoms; there have been reports of this occurring with this new coronavirus, but this is not thought to be the main way the virus spreads.

I found this interesting article written by someone who actually had the Coronavirus.
